How much does an attorney cost?

One of the most asked questions I get is, "how much will it cost?" As a small business owner, myself, I understand that an attorney's services are often not normally bugeted for, and these costs can be expensive. Unfortunately, the answer to how much a certain service will cost is that 'it depends.'

In general, I charge $225/hr for transactional work, and $350/hr for litigation. It does not cost anything to call or email me to inquire about the issue that you wish to address. I charge $125 for initial consultations. This is a time for me to get a chance to learn the facts of your issue. Full disclosure of the facts during this initial meeting is of paramount importance, as this forms the basis of an attorney's opinion of the matter.

Generally, it is important to understand that drafting, reviewing, and assistance with agreements and documents is, in the long run, inexpensive. This is the best opportunity that you have to understand the agreement to which you will be bound, and to understand what issues may arise in the future. On the other hand, litigation of bad agreements, poorly drafted documents, or other problems is, in all cases, very expensive!
